Why having more time as a child-free woman is actually a myth for online business owners

There’s this common misconception that when you don’t have kids, it means you have all this extra free time. The thing is, it’s not always true.

Today, I’m going to talk about why having more time as a child-free Entrepreneur is a myth plus 3 tips to start gaining back 2+ hours/week to do more of the following.

But first I want to start out by saying I chose my lifestyle and you have your lifestyle. Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

1. A business takes up a lot of time and energy

  • When you’re a business owner and passionate about what you do, It’s easy to turn into a workaholic if not careful. But that’s why I help other child-free business owners make time for everything they want to do.

2. Spend time with family

3. Taking care of our parents

4. Spending time with pets

5. Volunteering for causes that matter to us

  • Animal shelters
  • Environmental causes

6. Going back to school

  • I know of many cf friends who have gone back to school, or decided to continue their degree
  • I went back to college and graduated at 35

7. Focus on our career

8. Renovating their house

9. Spend time doing hobbies

  • Play video games
  • Watch movies
  • Hike
  • Try new restaurants

10. Travel

Let me also add in that just because when we do have more free time, work from home, or don’t have kids, that doesn’t mean we can just drop everything on a whim.

So, what can you do to get more time to do what you want?

3 tips to start gaining 2+ hours/week

1. Gain clarity with what you want and who you are

  • Journal this

2. Know where you time and energy goes

  • Document how long each activity takes in a program like Toggl or simply write it down with tasks, time start, time stop, time it took, 
  • Throughout the day, take note of how much energy you have at different parts of the day

3. What’s working and what isn’t work? Journal and take notes on this. This can include:

  • Systems and processes
  • Calendar
  • Boundaries
