A lot can happen in one year.
A lot can happen within a couple months.
That’s why it’s so important to document and gain awareness about your growth mentally and as a business owner. This ensures you stay on track through the ebbs and flows that life throws at you.
Before you start setting goals and planning, don’t forget to take into account these 3 things to create work life alignment for that balance of life you want.
Tip 1: Regularly Reconnect with Yourself for Work-Life Alignment
When you regularly reconnect with yourself, it allows you to stay motivated and remind you what you do. I recommend doing this yearly, quarterly, and after a life event. You can then tweak what you want in life and business to make sure they align with the newer version of yourself, from learning and growing.
Some ways to do this are through:
- Journaling
- Read over your testimonials
- Read/write your WHY everyday
- Create a living and work space that makes you happy inspires you and excited to be in
Tip 2: Do more of what you love
Did you know you don’t have to wait for a specific income or phase of business to start doing what you love?
When you don’t have kids to worry about and you have a lot of extra time on your hands, it’s easy to become a workaholic. You love what you do in your business, which is wonderful! But, don’t forget about your hobbies too.
It takes creativity and resourcefulness, but you can do it. That’s what being a solo business owner is all about after all.
For example, I’d like to live in the mountains. Until then, I make sure to take day trips up there as often as possible so I budget for it. Sometimes I’ll have an idea of what I want to do when I get up there, but most of the time, I just do what feels good and what is going on.
It’s about taking small steps now toward your goal to start doing more of what you love.
Whether it’s traveling more, getting more sleep, gaming, being crafty, or hiking.
Tip 3: Boundaries
Another big tip to creating work-life alignment is to set boundaries with others.
When you’re sick of people’s sh*t and can’t take on one more thing… Your mind and body will thank you for it. You deserve time for yourself.
Between finishing the year out on a high note in your business and juggling life with the holidays and travel, it’s a lot of an already stressful season. It doesn’t have to be.
Especially around the holidays. Just because you are related to someone does not make you obligated to tolerate their toxicity.
It’s ok to step away from your business and take some time off to be present with your partner and pet. That’s a family too. Your clients will understand that you won’t get back to them right away (as long as you let them know when you are and are not available).
- Time boundaries
- Mental health boundaries
- Self-care boundaries
Putting these boundaries in place teaches clients, family, friends, and others how you want to be treated. This can be anything from blocking time to yourself, policies in contracts, or limiting your time with others.
The best part is the more you set boundaries with others, the more confident and empowered you’ll feel.
